Dave Truesdale vs. SFWA Nebula Voters
Dave Truesdale goes "Off on a Tangent" again. What’s it about? Well, the title of the article–"SFWA Nebula Apathy Slights Original Anthologies: Or Why I Like the Hugos"–pretty much sums it up.

2:53 pm Feb-9-2008I think it is a great column…very thoughtful with a lot of valid points, not to mention a great reading list from anthologies.

12:02 am Feb-10-2008Thanks, E.. Appreciated.
Wouldn’t you know it, though? With the Night Shade Books forums down for some time (where the F&SF message board resides), and now the Asimov/Analog Readers Forums down (as far as posting messages is concerned) since Thursday, the 7th–and here it is the 9th–the only (save for one) comment I have been able to find/receive on the column is here. So thanks.
I expect some heat from (the usual suspects) elements of SFWA, but hey, I’m used to it from when I was Bulletin editor…and this in no way will compare.
SFWA is broken on several fronts; this neglect of the 2007 original anthologies is but one of them (and a result of a much larger issue which SFWA cannot bring itself to face–that being…well, this is fodder for another column.) :-)
Anyway, I’m glad you liked the column.
Dave

1:55 pm Feb-10-2008I actually discovered the \i{Asimov’s} forum was down when I wrote up a response to your column and discovered that I couldn’t post it, so I was pleased to see “the slush god” linking to it so I could at least say something…glad you found the comment! :)
