Lost in Translation
A week or two ago, SCI FI Wire published my interview with Adam-Troy Castro, which focused on his novel Emissaries From the Dead. Some time later, Adam-Troy discovered that someone had translated the interview (almost certainly using a web translator), then translated it back into English. The results are rather amusing.
I especially like the references to "Ellery Female Monarch" (rather than Ellery Queen) and the way "Fidel" was somehow inserted into the text, as if you can’t say "Castro" without "Fidel." I also rather enjoyed my byline in translation: "St. John Chief Joseph John Adams." A bonus John, plus sainthood and chiefdom!
