Robocop: a zombie robot?
I was just having a conversation about whether or not Robocop would in fact be considered a zombie robot. A detractor insists that Robocop was not actually dead when transferred into the robot body. I say he obviously was; did you see how many times he got shot?
In any case: want so you think? zombie robot or something else entirely?

10:19 pm Dec-17-2008Hi John! There’s an error as this entry of yours resulted in a triple-post.
I’d say Robocopy was body dead but not brain dead and it’s the latter that was salvaged.

10:39 pm Dec-17-2008If for no other reason than the world needs a zombie robot, I cast my vote: Robocop is a zombie robot.

4:32 am Dec-19-2008While debating whether or not to amputate poor Peter Weller’s organic arm in the first movie, there’s this juicy line:
“Well he signed a release form when he joined the force. He’s legally dead. We can do pretty much what we want to him.”
I’d say that’s definitive proof Robocop was dead and then rose from the dead. If we can turn a blind eye to his lack of decomposition, hunger for human flesh, and general shambling, I’d say why not?
Enthusiastic Yes!

11:54 pm Dec-20-2008Legal documentation aside, I do recall that Clarence Bodicker did indeed deliver a coup de grace to Officer Murphy’s head, nominally sufficient to terminate any zombie. Yet clearly Officer Murphy was resurrected inspite of the headshot.
My understanding is that once you pop Zed in the Head with Lead, Zed is definitely dead for sure.
Thus, Robocop is something else.

8:04 am Dec-22-2008What a funny discussion. I would say that he was still alive, to the best of my memory he was not brain dead and the robot is animated by his brain. (much like the cybermen in Dr who, but a nicer version of that thought)
