Stories Eligible for the Nebula Award

Nebula Awards season is upon us. Current Nebula rules dictate that during the annual nomination period (November 15th thru February 15th), eligible members of SFWA can nominate works for the Nebula. The six works that receive the highest number of nominations during the nomination period in each category will be placed on the final ballot. Due to changes in Nebula rules, for this year’s Nebula Awards, works published from July 1, 2008 thru December 31, 2009 are eligible during the current nomination period.

My anthologies include several works that are currently eligible. All stories belong in the short story category unless otherwise noted. Linked stories are available online in their entirety. SFWA members can download the stories via the links provided (email me at johnjosephadams@gmail.com if you’re a SFWA member and have issues downloading the files).

BookSpotCentral has an extensive review of Seeds of Change, which the reviewer rather liked: “Without exception these stories will provide the reader with a lot of food for thought. So much in fact, that it took me a full week to work though these nine stories, needing a break after most of them to think about what I had just read. … This anthology contains quality stories. It is not one of those effortless reads, this book demands your full attention. Paying attention is absolutely worth the effort though. I think I enjoyed Seeds of Change even more than reading the outstanding Wastelands anthology.”

“N-Words” to be Reprinted in Dozois Year’s Best

I just got word that Ted Kostmatka’s story, “N-Words,” which originally appeared in my anthology, Seeds of Change, will be reprinted in Gardner Dozois’s The Year’s Best Science Fiction. I’m hugely delighted for Ted, and am proud to have been the one to publish the story. Congrats, Ted!

SF Revu has a nice review of Seeds of Change: “These are not your usual short stories — each one is a true gem. If you haven’t already found this book on the shelves, go look for it now. It will supply hours of absorbing reading and lots of food for thought.”

Also, the Minimal to the Max blog says: “Seeds of Change exceeded my expectations. I found it to be quite an engaging read, and … I think the majority of it will appeal to readers everywhere.”

Interview @ PW’s Genreville

Rose Fox of Publishers Weekly interviewed me for the PW Genreville blog. It’s for a feature called "Nuts & Bolts," so as the name implies the interview sort of explores how Seeds of Change was born and how the book came together.

Also, Scott Marlowe posted a nice review of the anthology on his blog: "If you’re looking for a healthy dose of thought-provoking literature leavened by a hefty shot of entertainment to put an exclamation on these final summer days, I highly recommend Seeds of Change."

And John Klima gave me a nice write-up for Tor.com, in which he talks about my anthology projects, and gives special kudos to Seeds of Change.
